Care & Share Needs
Help Us Help Others
For more than a decade Allen ISD Students have made the Care & Share Program at Allen Community Outreach possible. Thanks to our “ACO KIDS” every year for their support, and to our administrators, teachers and parents for their encouragement to students to make donations and be good community volunteers!
Each month more than 200 Allen-area families come to Allen Community Outreach for assistance. These families depend on the donations at the ACO Food Pantry and Care & Share Closet for items that many of us take for granted each day, such as toothpaste and shampoo– even peanut butter and jelly!
Please encourage your counselors, teachers and parents to promote the monthly donation program. It’s designed to get kids involved and make choices about their donations. Students can accompany their parents to the store and personally select the items to donate– with the understanding that it’s families in their neighborhoods and friends at school that cannot afford the necessities.
All Allen ISD Elementary Schools are supportive of the program, and each month have a different category or item to collect. Download the schedule here and share the calendar with classrooms and parents. Print it out and post it! Be creative and make it fun...challenge grade levels or classroom against classroom and award the most collections for the month.
