The Allen community places a high priority on our educational system. We pride ourselves on having excellent schools, hiring the best teachers and providing a curriculum and extracurricular activities that will meet the needs and challenges of our future leaders. As fortunate as we are, there are still families in our system that are struggling to meet their basic needs and buying school supplies taxes their already strained situation, especially if they have more than one child. As an effort to ease this burden and provide each child with an equal chance at an excellent education, a collaborative project between the Allen Chamber of Commerce, the Allen ISD Transportation Department, the Allen Community Outreach, and local businesses called “Fill the Bus” will promote the need for school supply collections throughout our community.
Last year, “Fill the Bus” benefited almost 1000 children and over 32,000 supplies were collected.
