You have done it!
Once again our community has pulled through and all of our children/teens and seniors have been adopted! We have been able, with your help, to adopt over 850 kiddos and seniors. Thank you so much for your generosity.
If you have adopted someone, please make sure you bring your gifts to the First United Methodist Church on Monday or Tuesday (12/10 & 12/11) from 9 am - 6 pm.
While everyone has been adopted, we have historically helped families after the toy distribution. Financial, toy, and gift card donations are greatly appreciated for these families in need.
Each year, ACO asks the community to “adopt” a child, teen or senior for Christmas. You, the Donor/ Adopter, will be given the person’s clothing sizes and wish list and asked to make their holiday a little happier by purchasing new clothes and toys for them.
All items must be new and unwrapped. Throughout the year we provide families with vouchers to spend like cash at ACO’s Resale Shop where they receive gently-used clothing. Christmas may be the only time during the year they receive clothing that is brand-new!
Can you imagine the sadness and despair felt by many families during the holidays when they are facing layoffs, cut-off notices on the utilities, eviction notices or no food in their pantry? Shopping for Christmas gifts may be the last thing on their mind. The number of families facing financial crisis in our community is still rising.
In 2006 more than 850 individuals were helped through Allen Community Outreach’s Christmas Adoption Program. About 1600 bags of toys and over 100 bicycles were given out!
With your adoption of a CHILD, TEEN or SENIOR, you can make this very special time of year a lasting memory for someone who otherwise would not experience the joy of the holiday season.
Our 2007 Christmas Adoption Program will once again be at First United Methodist Church, 601 S. Greenville and actual sorting is scheduled for Monday, December 10 through Monday December 17.
Involve your family, your civic & church groups, or your co-workers and share a sense of peace and joy this Christmas by sharing with someone who needs your help.
