Holiday Volunteer Programs

ACO’s 2011 Holiday Program is dependent on hundreds of volunteers to provide a happy holiday season to many local Allen area families.

Volunteer for a Food Drive

During the month of November food donations are being accepted and volunteers around town are holding drives to collect the much needed items to fill more than 600 boxes of holiday food. If you’d like information on having a food drive in your neighborhood, business, church, school, or with friends see the link on this website under the “Services” button or contact ACO for details.

Volunteer to Sort and Box Food

If you’d like to volunteer to sort food and assemble boxes Nov 17-19 at the First United Methodist Church of Allen or assist with distribution day at the church on November 21, see the volunteer schedule link under this “Volunteer” button for availability.

  • ALL volunteers 18 years or older must have submitted a volunteer application in advance and be cleared of a criminal background check.
  • Students of high school age may volunteer without an adult and need only the first 2 pages of the application completed.
  • Students 12 years of age and older must volunteer with a parent.
  • Children 11 years and younger are not eligible to volunteer for this program and children’s groups are not able to work on this project.
  • Distribution Day is for adult volunteers only please.

However, groups may come in for a quick tour and are encouraged to decorate our special boxes in advance with a Thanksgiving or Christmas theme.

Volunteer to Hold A Toy Drive

ACO’s Toys For Our Tots Drive begins November 25 around the Allen area. Help ACO by holding a toy drive in your neighborhood, business, church, school, or with friends and bring them to ACO before December 15.

Volunteer to Pick Up Toys

ACO’s Toys For Our Tots will have drop off locations at Allen Fire Stations and with Santa Claus at The Village at Allen. We’ll need daily pick-ups of toys. If you’d like to be a runner, see the volunteer schedule link under this “Volunteer” button for availability.

Volunteer as a Donor to Adopt a Child, Teen or Senior

Make someone’s holiday a little happier by purchasing gifts from their wish list. See more information under the “Services” button on this website.

Volunteer to work the Christmas Adoption Program

Help organize the many bags of gifts that will be returned from the Christmas Adoption Program and get them ready for distribution on December 15-18 or help with distribution on December 19th. See the volunteer schedule link under this “Volunteer” button for availability.
