Resale Shops History

All Community Outreach’s Resale Shop first opened in 1998 as an Upscale Resale Shop. Founded on All Community Outreach’s mission of providing necessities, the principles have not changed: providing free, quality clothing to clients who reside in Collin County  while simultaneously selling affordable clothing, furniture, and housewares to the public. Clients and customers shop side by side with a gift card distributed by ACO caseworkers. This method allows all people to maintain their dignity. Proceeds from the Resale Shop provide a source of funding which offers ongoing support for other ACO programs.

In 2010, the Treasure Chest opened to sell items that are below the quality we require in our Resale Shop, including out of season merchandise. During its time, the Treasure Chest was a destination shop for savvy shoppers, wholesale customers and those individuals that love the “thrill of the hunt.”

In 2021, the Treasure Chest was transformed into our Cares Center, which provides the necessities to those who need help in our community.

ACO’s Boutique began as an opportunity to travel to local shows or events and sell merchandise from the Resale Shop, while increasing visibility of ACO in the community. A few years ago, The Shops of Watters Creek offered a temporary spot in an unleased retail space for ACO to open during the holidays. Soon a positive partnership was realized and ACO Boutique became a full time tenant for 8 years because of the generosity of The Shops at Watters Creek. The ACO Boutique has become known throughout Collin County as a bargain-priced, high-end shopping experience for home décor.

With the support of donations from local residents and businesses, ACO is able to continue to fill the stores with a variety of merchandise while providing critical funds to help families with emergencies such as financial assistance for rent and utilities, clothing and food, and long term goals of education and employment to provide permanent sustainability.
