Volunteer Spotlight: Sherry Murchison
Sherry Murchison – Volunteer
“When I moved to Allen, I knew I wanted to find a volunteer opportunity since I had just retired from an active real estate practice. I learned of ACO and had several training sessions in the main office before deciding that it might be a good fit for me.
That was over ten years ago and, while I have seen many changes in the way things are done, one thing has stayed the same. ACO fills an integral need in our community and over the years has benefitted so many who find themselves in difficult circumstances. It can be very rewarding when I answer the phone and a client is so thankful and appreciative of the services that we offer . . . and sometimes, simply thanks me for answering the phone!
I’m happy to have found a place where I can give back to my community and also enjoy the people — both my fellow volunteers and the wonderful staff who are dedicated to making Allen and Collin County a better place to live. ACO is the embodiment of a team of community servants that places the needs of others at the heart of their purpose and mission.”
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
-Winston Churchill
